stone-arts

In a foreign country of the north, at the age of 33, I was reborn.

Year of tough labor under the tutelage of

"Ulle Nielsen", a giant Viking stone-art master from   Copenhagen, And Endless hours of carving granite, were transformed in my restless mind into a 10 kg. granite statue. It was born out from 20 hours  of stone carving.

Hands trembling, I became a sculptor.

This reality is self-evident for me, no doubts or  regrets, only a little feeling of waste for my early  years.

My father shaped my soul, not out of conscious intent, but flowing from his very being and his way of life.

a sensitive person of infinite cultural knowledge,

who chose constant questioning and wonderment as a moral and philosophical guide.

It seems there are no shortcuts. Preceding my conscious choice to start sculpturing as a way of life, were years of restless army service, second degree in Biology and the building of an alternative farm on "Shokef" mountain.

In The years after, my creative life has been guided by sculpturally imposed harmony.

At Ulle's workshop, under his guidance, I have built Japanese gardens and ponds, influenced by Zen spirit. the minimalistic beauty of Japanese design moved  me deeply.

In 1985 I returned to my homeland determined to  create beauty. On Ein-Hemed hill near Jerusalem, I lived for some years. It is there that I initiated artist  workshop. My art work range has expended.

Light and water has  become part of the essence of the sculpture, rather than just an addition.

Miniature landscape designs, decorative pools and zen ponds became a part of my creation. Each stone furniture was created as an abstract sculpture.

On those years I was also carving the names of a Jewish lost communities for "Yad-Vashem". The names were carved on big wild rocks surface.

After eight years I left "Ein-Hemed" to mount "Canaan", "Zefat". during the five years which followed I have built "Carved in pink", A modest five unite guest house, built on the edge of a cliff facing "Mount Meron".

The house was built and sculptured by me for five  years. A living space where guests were inspired by the calm harmony and beauty.

While creating the house I acquired a lot of ideas and experience. I developed procedures for making  reconstructed stone, made from aggregates,          cement and few mineral additions, that, without using any organic or artificial materials.

The result is a material which is stone for all intents and purposes.

Till 2006 thousands of guests have come to "Carved-in-Pink" guest house.

Life as a host did not suit my restless soul, I sold the house and got free.

For 3 years I wondered around, occasionally creating some works of art. Among those were the outdoor staircase wall of the "Hazan" house and an Italian stone pool for prof. Ariel Hiershfeld in Jerusalem.

At the end of 2009 I settled in El-Rom, at the north regionThe wild terrain and extreme climate captured my soul. I found myself again involved in self building

of my home.

Two years after arriving at El Rom I sculptured three

stone sculptures for the community of El-Rom.

This time the sculptures are a simulation about the     enigmatic emerging of life and insight and the           consciousness of human kind in the universe.

A work of art is born out of the absurdity of our existance.
